区别whetherornot，whetherornot与whether的区别

1. whether与if的区别

P1：whether与if并不完全可以互换使用，有时候不能替换。例如whether引导主语从句并在句首，引导表语从句，作介词宾语等情况下不能用if。 在一般宾语从句中，whether与if可以互换使用，但在特殊情况下if就不能取代whether。比如，Whether he will come is not clear（他是否会来还不确定）这种情况下就不能用if来替代whether。

2. whether or not的用法

P2：whether or not常用于ask, doubt, know, wonder等动词后，引导名词从句。也可连用or not引导状语从句，表示两个或更多可能的选择或怀疑。 例如，“Whether or not we can find the necessary tools, we will go on with the work”（不管我们能否找到必要的工具，我们都会继续工作）中的whether or not就表示不管是否找到工具都会继续工作。

3. whether与whether or not的区别

P3：whether和whether or not在用法上、意思上都有区别。whether…or里whether表示一种选择，其后可以跟介词短语或不定式短语；而whether…or not里whether可引导名词性从句。 举例，I don’t know whether it’s raining or not（我不知道是否下雨）中的whether or not表示是否下雨的选择，而不仅仅是是否下雨。

4. only用whether的情况

P4：在与or not连用、与动词不定式连用、连接词前有介词时等情况下只能使用whether，而不能用whether or not。 比如，“I don’t know whether it’s raining or not”（我不知道是否在下雨）中的whether就只能与or not连用表示是否下雨的情况。又如，“He doesn’t know whether to accept the invitation”（他不知道是否要接受邀请）中的whether就与动词不定式连用，表示接受邀请的选择。
